CORAM:
HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RAJIV SAHAI ENDLAW
O R D E R
% 01.05.2017 1.
Though the Civil Rule has been disposed of today vide the accompanying order but during the hearing it has been informed that the computerised records of death are searchable either by the name of the applicant or by the year of death or by the application number or by the mobile number of the applicant.
2.
In the Indian context, the applicant for Death Certificate would rarely be the kin of the deceased and generally it would be a distant relative or a friend of the family who would run to have the death registered. The name of such relative / friend is unlikely to be remembered at a later point of time when search with respect to the Death Certificate is required to be made. It is therefore felt that it is expedient that the said digitised record is made searchable by the name of the deceased or the date of death. 3.
The Finance Commissioner / Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD) is requested to immediately consider the said aspect and C.RULE 1/2017
unless finds reasons otherwise and to be recorded and communicated to Mr. Rahul Mehra, Senior Standing Counsel, GNCTD, the necessary amends in the system be made within one month.
3.
A copy of this order be given dasti to the counsel for GNCTD. RAJIV SAHAI ENDLAW, J MAY 01, 2017 'gsr'..
