W.P.(C) 3041/2016 Present writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to issue a Passport to the petitioner within a time frame. Learned counsel for petitioner states that petitioner filed an application dated 05th August, 2014 for issuance of a Passport and in response to Right to Information application dated 14th January, 2016, petitioner was informed that his application has been closed on 27th February, 2015.

Learned counsel for petitioner states that no reasons have been given by the respondents for rejection of petitioner's application seeking issuance of a Passport.

Learned counsel for respondents, who appears on advance notice, states that it is open to the petitioner to file an application under Section 5(3) of the Passport Act, 1967 before the Regional Passport officer, Jalandhar, Punjab, requesting him to disclose reasons for rejecting the petitioner's application. She further states that if the petitioner is aggrieved by the order of the Regional Passport Officer, it is open to him to file an appeal before the Chief Passport Officer.

At this stage, learned counsel for petitioner wishes to withdraw the present writ petition with liberty to file an application under Section 5(3) of the Passport Act, 1967 and if aggrieved from the said order to file an appeal before the Chief Passport Officer.

With the aforesaid liberty, present writ petition is dismissed as withdrawn.
