O R D E R

% 19.07.2018 The petitioners had sought direction from this Court since they apprehended threat to their life and limb on account of the disapproval of their marriage by respondents Nos. 5 and 6, their relatives. The petitioners are legal adults.

Ms. Richa Kapoor, the learned Additional Standing Counsel for State submits that the petitioners will be granted protection according to the threat, assessed by the Station House Officer (SHO) of the area of their residence. She states that the petitioners have not been found residing at the address given to the police, however, it cannot be ruled out that persons, in the petitioners' predicament-out of fear to their life and limb, ordinarily lead a nomadic life till such time that appropriate protection is provided to them. In the circumstances, should the petitioner furnish an address to the police, the SHO of the Police Station concerned, shall accord them requisite protection according to their threat perception. To begin with, the

petitioners shall be given telephone numbers of three police officers from the jurisdiction of the concerned Police Station of which one shall be of a lady police officer. These numbers shall be kept operational at all times so that any exigency can be intimated on either of the numbers by the petitioners. Ms. Kapoor further states that any message received on the said numbers or on any other telephone number of the police either by way of a telephone call or SMS shall be immediately responded to. Additionally, the Beat Constable/Division Staff of the area shall regularly visit the residence of the petitioners on a daily basis at least for a period of month and report the same in the Roznamcha. The safety and security of the petitioners shall be assessed by the SHO on a weekly basis with due endorsement of the same in the Roznamcha.

Should the petitioners change their residence to the jurisdiction of any other Police Station, the SHO of the subsequent Police Station shall ensure due protection to them in terms of this order. No further orders are required at this stage. The petition stands disposed-off accordingly. A copy of this order be given dasti to the learned counsel for the parties under the signature of the Court Master. NAJMI WAZIRI, J.
