The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying as under:- "(i) Direct the Respondents to rectify the date of birth of the petitioner i.e. 30/04/1959 in place of 13/04/1959 in records of the Respondent No.l and also issue a passport to the petitioner with the rectification, in the interest of justice;

The petitioner has produced documents to establish that his correct date of birth is 30.04.1959 and not 13.04.1959. The said documents include the certificate issued by Central Board of Secondary Education indicating the petitioner's correct date of birth.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner further states that there are no other documents which indicate that the petitioner's date of birth as 30.04.1959 and, therefore, it is apparent that an inadvertent error has crept into the application filed by the petitioner and the passport issued by the respondents.

Mr Mahajan, learned counsel appearing for the passport authorities states that the documents filed by the petitioner for obtaining the passport for the first time are no longer available with the concerned authorities. 5.

In view of the above, the present petition is allowed and the respondents are directed to rectify the petitioner's date of birth and issue a fresh passport within a period of eight weeks, from today. 6.

The petition is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. VIBHU BAKHRU, J JULY 11, 2019 RK
