O R D E R

% 18.07.2016 This is a petition for quashing of FIR No. 234/2007 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC registered at PS Malviya Nagar, New Delhi on the complaint of Respondent No.2.

Learned APP on instructions from the investigating officer states that besides the 6 petitioners impleaded in the present petition there is no other accused and besides the respondent No.2 there is no other victim. The complainant/Respondent No. 2 Ms. Bitty Chopra @ Geetika is present in person and is identified by her counsel and the Investigating Officer. She states that the Petitioners and Respondent No.2/Complainant have entered into a Compromise. In full and final settlement of all

the claims of the Respondent No. 2, the Petitioner No. 5 has paid `18,50,000/- out of which ` 7,50,000/-have already been paid to her and remaining amount of ` 11 lakhs have been paid today in Court by way of a demand drafts bearing Nos. "504971, 504972 and 254776" in the sum of ` 5 lakhs, 5 lakhs and 1 lakh respectively . On receipt of this amount of ` 11 lakhs respondent No.2 has no claim towards the petitioners with regard to her dowry, istridhan, maintenance past or future, compensation etc. Respondent No.2 further states that in view of the settlement between the parties, she does not want to pursue the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto.

In view of the fact that the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will, volition and without any coercion and no useful purpose will be served in continuance of the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them, it would be in the interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question.

Consequently, FIR No. 234/2007 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC registered at PS Malviya Nagar, New Delhi and proceedings pursuant thereto are hereby quashed. Petitioner No.6 is exempted from appearing before the Court today.

Parties have signed this order sheet in acknowledgment of their statements made before this Court.

The petition is disposed of. Order dasti.
