The petitioner has filed the present application under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereafter 'the Act'), inter alia, praying that the time for making the award be extended for a further period of six months from 03.06.2018.

The learned counsel for the applicant states that the Arbitral Tribunal had entered upon the reference on 04.06.2017 and has already held more than 18 hearings. He has drawn the attention of this Court to the minutes of the 19th hearing held on 10.05.2018, which indicates that the applicant had consented to the extension of time, however, the respondent had not

conveyed its consent. The learned counsel for the respondent states that the competent authority is yet to take its decision in this matter. 5.

Concededly, arbitral proceedings are at the stage of final arguments. It is also apparent that the Arbitral Tribunal has acted with due dispatch. In the aforesaid circumstances, this Court considers it apposite to allow the application and extend the time for making the award by a further period of six months from 01.06.2018. It is so directed. 6.
