This Public Interest Litigation has been initiated by this Court at the behest of a letter written by the resident of Delhi. 2.

It appears that due to the traffic congestion, caused by illegal parking of the taxis, commercial buses, trucks etc. and encroachment by shops in DDA market, the petitioner chose to write a letter which was treated as a Public Interest Litigation.

We have heard counsel appearing for the respondents who have submitted that detailed status report has been filed by respondent No.1 - W.P.(C) No.5510/2018 Page 1 of 3

South Delhi Municipal Corporation as well as by respondent No.2 - Delhi Traffic Police and respondent No.4 - Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic). Detailed status report has also been filed by Delhi Development Authority.

Looking to these status reports, it appears that enough steps have been taken by the respondents as stated in the status report filed by respondent No.4 dated 22.07.2019. Looking to the two status reports filed by respondent No.1 - South Delhi Municipal Corporation dated 30.07.2018 as well as 19.09.2018 and also looking to the status report filed by Delhi Development Authority dated 01.08.2018, it appears that the respondents have taken adequate steps for the aforesaid purpose and they have assured this Court that they shall continue to take action to prevent illegal parking of the commercial vehicles. They have also taken this Court to various data supplied by them in their status report.

Counsel appearing for respondent No.2 has also submitted the present and the current status report about the work done by respondent No.2. For the different periods, several vehicles prosecuted, vehicles have been towed away and the notices have been pasted on the vehicles and the App based online camera challans have been issued. The status report tendered to this Court dated 24.09.2019 signed by Additional Commissioner of Police - Mr. A.K. Singh, IPS is taken on record.

In view of the aforesaid submissions, we see no reason to further monitor this case and we hereby direct the respondents to continue taking steps for monitoring the traffic and for preventing the illegal parking of the commercial and other vehicles on road.

Respondent No.2 can also explore the possibility of installation of W.P.(C) No.5510/2018 Page 2 of 3

CCTV cameras to prevent the traffic congestion. 8.
