% 16.04.2015 The matter was called in the morning but no one was present. It was stated that the petitioner would be appearing in person. Rajesh Devi, the petitioner, is present in person but her counsel is not present.
Barkha is present and has interacted and spoken to Ms.Inderjeet Sidhu, Advocate representing the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee in the chamber. We have also spoken to Barkha in the presence of Ms.Inderjeet Sidhu.
Barkha has stated that she is happily married to Anuj and she has no cause of complaint or grievance.
Rajesh Devi and Barkha have interacted and spoken to each other.
Rajesh Devi has stated that she has grievance as she cannot
accept the marriage of Barkha with Anuj.
It is the accepted position that Barkha is more than 18 years of age.
Having spoken to Barkha, we are convinced that she is married and living with Anuj and she does not appear to be under any force, threat, coercion or undue influence.
In these circumstances, we are not inclined to issue any specific directions in the present writ petition.
We hope and trust that relationship will normalise with passage of time. Barkha has stated that yesterday her husband was attacked at Ludhiana. She suspects that her family members may be involved. The police will examine the threat perception and in case any police protection is required, the same will be provided to Barkha and Anuj. Telephone numbers of two police officials will be made available to Barkha and Anuj and they can be contacted by Barkha and Anuj in case there is any difficulty or problem. In case Barkha and Anuj are residing outside Delhi, they can approach the concerned and nearest police station with a similar request.
Writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
Dasti.
