The petitioner has filed the present petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereafter 'the Act'), inter alia, praying that the time for making the award be extended for a further period of six months from 01.06.2018.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner states that the final arguments in the matter have commenced. He also draw the attention of this Court to an order dated 08.05.2018 passed by the Arbitral Tribunal, which indicates that the petitioner had given its consent and the learned counsel for the respondent had sought time to obtain the consent of the respondent

within a period of one week.

It is stated that respondent has failed to communicate either its consent or its refusal to extend the time. It is stated that the Arbitral Tribunal has not received any communication from the respondent in this regard.

Considering that the arbitral proceedings are at the stage of final arguments, this Court considers it apposite to allow the present petition and extend the time for making the award by a further period of six months from 01.06.2018; that is, till 01.12.2018. It is so directed. 5.

The petition is disposed of in the above terms. 6.
