The petitioner sought to file this suit for declaration and recovery of damages as an indigent person and an enquiry into the indigency of the petitioner was ordered.

Enquiry has been completed and the learned Joint Registrar, to whom the powers in this regard have been delegated under the Delhi High Court (Original Side) Rules, 2018, has vide order dated 8th May, 2018 reported that the petitioner has sufficient means to pay the court fees. 3.

The counsel for the petitioner states that he has informed the petitioner of the order dated 8th May, 2018 and is awaiting instructions from the petitioner and the matter be adjourned.

The order having been pronounced on 8th May, 2018, the petitioner and her counsel should have decided by now and matters cannot be kept lingering in this fashion.

The time for filing the Chamber Appeal against the order dated 8th May, 2018 of the Joint Registrar in fact has expired and the advocates have to show some alacrity, if at all the Courts are to be expected to expeditiously dispose of the matters. The advocates and litigants, cannot on the one hand demand expeditious justice and on the other hand conduct their own affairs with laxity.

In view of the order dated 8th May, 2018 and the petitioner having opted not to deposit the court fees, the petition is dismissed. No costs.
