% 25.07.2018 A Status Report has been filed.

The petitioner No.2 is aggrieved of having been assaulted brutally on 28.05.2018 at about 5.00 p.m. Photographs of grievous injuries to him have been annexed to the petition. An FIR was registered on 29.05.2018, however, nothing worthwhile was done. Thereafter, he underwent immediate emergency treatment and is still undergoing treatment for the cuts all over his face, head and body. He also wrote to the senior officers, even then there was no response. It is only after the filing of the present petition and orders of 04.06.2018 that some action was initiated by the police i.e. a notice under section 160 Cr.P.C. The Call Detail Records (CDRs) of the mobile phones of in-laws of the complainant and the complainant himself i.e. petitioner No.2 were sought from the relevant

authorities/offices. On 22.06.2018, a person connected with the case was interrogated. In effect, the first interrogation was done only after 24 days of the FIR being lodged. For almost a month thereafter, nothing was done. This shows a clear lethargical approach to the investigations. In view of the above, the DCP of the area will consider re-assigning the case to any other officer and/or keep it under supervision of the ACP of the area concerned.

The petition is disposed-off in terms of the above. NAJMI WAZIRI, J.
