% 29.03.2016 Present writ petition has been filed by the 1984 riots victims claiming ex-gratia compensation/rehabilitation package. A perusal of the paper book reveals that in pursuance to a rehabilitation package sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India vide letter dated 16th January, 2006, the petitioners had filed their claims. However, the claims filed by the petitioners have been denied on specific factual grounds, like the petitioners had not appeared before the Screening Committee or the details of the cheque mentioned by the petitioners could not be verified due to incomplete details or no proof of receipt of earlier payment was furnished.

In the opinion of this Court, the said factual disputes cannot be decided in writ proceedings. Consequently, the present writ petition is closed. However, the petitioners are given liberty to make a representation or file other appropriate proceedings in accordance with law. MANMOHAN, J MARCH 29, 2016/KA
