% 11.07.2016 Issue notice. Counsel for the respondent accepts notice. The limited prayer made by the petitioner in the present petition is to seek a direction to the respondent to dispose of the petition filed by the petitioner under Article 161 of the Constitution of India expeditiously. The petitioner had submitted his clemency petition on 22.12.2015. On 12.04.2016, the petitioner's wife was informed that the mercy petition had been sent to the Sentence Review Board along with other cases. However, nothing has been heard thereafter. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the sentence awarded to the petitioner was reduced by this court in appeal to three years rigorous imprisonment with compensation of Rs.2 lacs payable to the daughter of the

victim. He states that the compensation stands paid to the victim. It is submitted that the remaining sentence is about 14 months and if the clemency petition is not decided early, the same would become infructuous. In these circumstances, the petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's clemency petition within the next two months positively.
