CORAM:

HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE VIBHU BAKHRU

O R D E R

% 06.02.2019 1.

The petitioners have filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that respondents be directed to open at least 5 to 7 Anganwadi Centres (AWC) in Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojna, Baprola, as per the norms prescribed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. 2.

Ms Kaur, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents submits that there are already two AWCs operational (one in Flat No. 549 A and the other in Flat No. 550A). She states that the said AWCs are fully compliant with the guidelines. She also states that population is the only criteria for establishing an AWC, and contends that the two AWCs

are adequately catering to the needs of the residents. She submits that normally one AWC caters to approximately 150 beneficiaries. In the present case there are only 134 beneficiaries utilizing the facilities of one AWC and 89 beneficiaries utilizing the facilities of the other AWC. She has handed over a copy of the letter dated 27.09.2018 indicating the above.

3.

At this stage, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner contends that the space available in the present AWCs is barely one room and it would not be possible to cater to 89 children in one room, as they avail of the facilities at least three hours in the morning. 4.

The learned counsel appearing for the respondents seeks time to take instructions as to the space available in the abovementioned AWCs. 5.
