Pursuant to our last order, all the three corporations have filed status report (EDMC- page 278; SDMC-page 282; North DMC-page
294) confirming that they have examined the operating and construction plans of the public toilets which have been constructed by the New Delhi Municipal Council.
2.
These plans have been found feasible by the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and it is in the process of identifying sites where such toilets can be constructed.
3.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) have stated that it is not possible to adopt the operating and construction module of the public toilets which have been constructed by the New Delhi Municipal Council due to paucity of time. However, it has been assured that all facilities provided by the New Delhi Municipal Council are being provided in the toilets which have been constructed and are being operated by the SDMC and the NDMC.
4.
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation shall ensure that steps in this behalf shall be taken.
5.
In view of the above, this writ petition need not detain us any further. The municipal corporations shall ensure that all public toilets especially those in the areas inhabited by the economically weaker sections and slums are properly maintained and are in working conditions.
The writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE JULY 18, 2018/kr C.HARI SHANKAR, J
