W.P.(CRL) 2029/2016 Issue notice. Learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State. Notice has also been accepted by respondent No.2, who is present in Court. She is identified by her counsel Mr. Hoshiyar Singh. This petition has been filed to seek quashing of the FIR No.636/2015
registered at Police Station - Vijay Vihar under Section 498A/ 406/ 34 IPC against the petitioners on the complaint of respondent No.2. The petitioner No.1 and respondent No.2 were married on 26.09.2014. However, disputes arose between the parties and the aforesaid FIR came to be registered on the complaint of respondent No.2. Subsequently, with the intervention of friends and family members, the parties have reached a compromise to obtain divorce by mutual consent. Under the terms of the compromise, the petitioner is obliged to pay Rs.1.75 Lakhs to respondent No.2 in full and final settlement of all her claims. Rs.1.25 Lakhs already stands paid. A sum of Rs.50,000/- has been tendered in Court today to respondent No.2 in cash, which has been accepted by her. Respondent No.2 states that she does not wish to pursue her case any further. She also states that the FIR in question and the proceedings arising therefrom be quashed. In these circumstances, no useful purpose would be served in pursuing the aforesaid FIR and the case arising therefrom. The same stands quashed.
