CRL.M.C. 3356/2016 By the present petition the petitioner seeks quashing of FIR No. 264/2016 under Section 376 IPC registered at PS Timarpur on the complaint of respondent No.2 on the ground that the parties have settled the matter and the petitioner and respondent No.2 are now married. CRL.M.C. 3356/2016

Section 376 IPC being a serious offence the above-noted FIR cannot be quashed on the basis of compromise between the parties in view of the decision of the Supreme Court in Gian Singh Vs. State of Punjab & Anr. (2012) 10 SCC 303.

Consequently, the petition is dismissed.
