% 16.08.2018 The surviving grievance of the petitioner is that his returns could not be taken on record that he had filed on 17.08.2017 for the previous assessment years. It is stated that he made an attempt to file the return manually but no receipt was given. As a consequence, the returns for those years are not on record. The respondents are directed to examine these aspects and decide in accordance with the law, especially having regard to the Board's circulars made subsequently as well, permitting the classes of Assessees who filed returns without linking their PAN numbers, Aadhaar Card Number or Aadhaar Registration Enrolment number.
The petitioner's representation shall be decided by the concerned Assessing Officer (AO) in this light and orders thereon shall be directly communicated to him. All rights and contentions of the parties are kept reserved, in terms of the previous order dated 27.07.2018. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of with aforesaid directions.
