By the present petition the petitioner seeks anticipatory bail in case FIR No. 875/2015 under Sections 498A/406 IPC registered at PS Vikas Puri, Delhi.

The allegations of the complainant in the above noted FIR are of harassment and demand of dowry. It is alleged that after the ring ceremony, the in-laws pressurised the father of the complainant to give car and gold articles to the family members. It is alleged that a sum of ₹3.10 lakhs was handed over as consideration for the car. Despite having spent ₹20 lakhs in the marriage and giving all necessary and jewellery articles, the petitioner and his family members used to misbehave and taunt on petty issues. was even forced to give a cash of ₹25,000/- per month from her salary account.

A perusal of the photographs shown by the learned APP for the State reveal that cash transaction has been made at the time of engagement. From the recovered articles no cash item has been recovered. Learned counsel for the petitioner states that the car was purchased by him thus there is no requirement for the same to be handed over.

From the nature of cash transaction as is evident from the photographs prima facie there is some merit in the complaint that cash was handed over. Considering the nature of allegations and the material collected during investigation, this Court does not find it to be a fit case to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

Bail application is dismissed.
