This writ petition has been filed in public interest effectively seeking a direction for pre-natal care and post-natal care provided by the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.

On the last date of hearing, our attention was drawn to Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) and Janani Suraksha Yojna (JSY), two schemes formulated by the Union of India and are being worked by the GNCT of Delhi.

This writ petition does not need to detain us for any further adjudication inasmuch as the respondents are bound to ensure the effective implementation of the said schemes which have been formulated as a measure of social welfare and health of pregnant women.

This writ petition is accordingly disposed of with a direction to the respondents to ensure that two schemes, i.e., Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) and Janani Suraksha Yojna (JSY) are effectively implemented.
The respondents shall ensure that all equipments including the ultrasound machine, which is a very basic equipment to monitor the pregnancy, are provided and maintained in a functional manner in all the government hospital. Dasti.
