Learned counsel for the petitioner points out that the application for conversion was made by his client on 13th February, 2017, and remains pending till date.

He submits that his client received a communication dated 1st February, 2018, stating that the file had been misplaced in the office of the DDA.

Learned counsel for the DDA submits that reconstruction of the file takes time.

A year, however, has passed since the said communication. W.P.(C) 8308/2018

In these circumstances, the DDA is directed to take a decision on the petitioner's application, positively within eight weeks from today, and communicate the same to the petitioner immediately thereupon.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that for the present, the above direction would satisfy his client. 7.

In view thereof, the writ petition is disposed of in the above terms.

Needless to say, should the decision of the DDA be unpalatable to the petitioner, the petitioner would be at liberty to challenge the same in accordance with law.

It is made clear that, in default of compliance with the above directions, within the time specified hereinabove, the DDA would be liable to be proceeded against for contempt.
