The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that respondent be directed to reimburse his medical bills. 2.

The petitioner is an advocate and claims to have undergone a Total Hip Replacement surgery at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon. He also states that he is in dire need of funds. The petitioner had applied for ex gratia grant from the Advocates Welfare Fund and is aggrieved by non consideration of his application.

By an order dated 19.11.2015 passed in W.P.(C) 6705/2014 titled K.R. Chitra vs Advocates Welfare Fund Trustee committee & Ors., this Court had stayed the operation of the Advocates' Welfare Fund and therefore no disbursement could be made. However, by a subsequent order dated 21.07.2017, an ad hoc committee was constituted to consider cases, where advocates are in urgent need of immediate relief and take appropriate W.P. (C) 6916/2016

decisions for disbursal of funds, till the Trustee Committee is constituted under Section 4 of the Advocates' Welfare Fund Act, 2001. 4.

In the circumstances, the petitioner would be at liberty to approach the ad hoc committee for urgent relief. Needless to state that if any urgent relief is warranted, the ad hoc committee shall take the necessary decision. 5.
