W.P.(CRL) 2438/2016 Petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 were married on 27th April, 2009 as per Hindu rites and ceremonies. Petitioner nos.2 to 6 are the relatives of petitioner no.1. Marital discord between petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 led to the registration of the present FIR No.618/2014 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC at police station New Ashok Nagar. Petitioner no.1 and

respondent no.2 have now settled their disputes amicably and their marriage has already been dissolved by way of a decree of divorce by mutual consent on 31st October, 2015 by the Family Court, Mathura. Respondent no.2 is present in Court and submits that she has already received the entire settled amount and she has no objection, in case the present FIR is quashed. Keeping in mind the facts that petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 have settled their disputes amicably and marriage between them has already been dissolved by way of decree of divorce by mutual consent, no fruitful purpose would be served by keeping the criminal proceedings pending. Accordingly, the present FIR No.618/2014 under Sections 498-A/406/34 IPC registered at police station New Ashok Nagar and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

Writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. Dasti.
