This writ petition has been filed by the writ petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking directions to the respondents to promptly respond to the complaints of urban flooding W.P.(C)No.7871/2016 Page 1 of 2

in Delhi during the monsoon season. The writ petitioner submits that there is no method to make public aware about the location where there has been urban flooding and non-accessibility to roads during the monsoon season. The petitioner has made a prayer in this writ petition that the respondents need to make a comprehensive and coordinated plan to manage urban flooding and to provide a warning system for the road users through radio, T.V. and use of the social media so as to enable free movement to traffic even though there may be flooding on a particular point.

The respondents have filed responses setting out the steps which they have undertaken in this regard.

A direction is issued to the respondent no.2 GNCTD to coordinate a meeting between the concerned authorities of the respondent no.2 to act and frame an appropriate policy/mechanism by which the problem of urban flooding is addressed to ensure that no citizen of Delhi is inconvenienced. The policy so framed, shall be furnished to the petitioner as well.
