% 13.03.2018 Respondent no.2-Ms. Rajni Verma is being represented through her Special Power of Attorney who happens to be her mother, namely, Mrs. Sudha Verma.
Mrs. Sudha Verma is present in Court and has been identified by SI Kishore Kumar of police station Patel Nagar. Mrs. Sudha Verma submits that she holds the Special Power of Attorney by her daughter-Ms. Rajni Verma in her favour, which has been placed on record. Statement of Mrs. Sudha Verma, on oath, has also been recorded separately. She submits that matter has been amicably settled between the petitioner and respondent no.2 before the Delhi Mediation Centre, Tis Hazaari Court, Delhi on 20th February, 2016 vide Annexure 'B', duly signed by her daughter. She
further submits that presently Ms. Rajni Verma is living in the United States of America and she has instructions from her to convey to this Court that she has no objection in case FIR No. 481/2015 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC registered at police station Patel Nagar and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed on receipt of balance settled amount of `8 lacs. Petitioner's counsel has paid `8 lacs to Mrs. Sudha Verma today in Court vide a demand draft, photocopy whereof has been placed on record. Petitioner's counsel has also paid `10,000/-, in cash, to the respondent no.2 towards the costs imposed vide order dated 2nd February, 2018. In view of the settlement arrived at between the petitioner and respondent no.2 before the Mediation Centre, I am of the view that no fruitful purpose would be served in continuing the present FIR.
Accordingly, aforesaid FIR and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
Petition is disposed of in the above terms.
