WP(C) No.8288/2016 The petitioners seek a direction to the respondent to determine the stamp duty, in terms of the order dated 20.06.2016 passed by the Registrar/District Magistrate on the General Power of Attorney ('GPA') submitted by the petitioners for registration. It is contended that the Sub-Registrar, by order dated 11.12.2015, had refused registration of the said document and directed the petitioners to produce a document of conveyance. It is contended that the petitioners are not in a position to produce the document of WP(C) No.8288 of 2016

conveyance and the document submitted i.e. 'GPA' is to be assessed in accordance with the rules.

It is contended that the Registrar/District Magistrate, by order dated 20.06.2016, had directed the Sub-Registrar to comply with the Guidelines dated 12.11.2014, deeming the said GPA to be a conveyance and to assess the stamp duty thereon in accordance with the said regulation. It is contended that the Sub-Registrar, till date, has not computed the stamp duty payable.

Issue Notice. Learned counsel for the respondent accepts notice and submits that the Sub-Registrar shall compute the stamp duty within a period of two weeks and communicate the same to the petitioners.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of, directing the respondent to compute the stamp duty in accordance with the rules within a period of two weeks and communicate the same to the petitioners.

A copy of this order be given dasti under the signature of the Court Master.
