% 17.09.2018 This petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 has been filed by the petitioner seeking extension of time for making of the Arbitral Award by the Arbitral Tribunal adjudicating the disputes that have arisen between the parties in relation to the work of "widening and strengthening of existing National Highways from 2 lane to 4 lane from km 30.00 to km 0.000 of Bijni to West Bengal Border section of NH-31C in Assam on East West Corridor under phase-II programme of NHDP Construction Package EW-II(AS-12)."

Notice of this petition was issued to the respondent on 30th August, 2018, granting time to the learned counsel appearing for the respondent to seek instructions from the respondent and file a reply, if required. The learned counsel for the respondent submits that he has been unable to obtain instructions from the respondent. Having perused the contents of the petition, I am of the opinion that

sufficient grounds for extending the time for making the Arbitral Award have been made out.

Accordingly, the time for making the Arbitral Award is extended by a further period of six months with effect from 24th September, 2018. The petition is allowed in the above terms with no order as to cost. NAVIN CHAWLA, J SEPTEMBER 17, 2018 Pallavi
