By an order dated 24.05.2017, the above captioned petition was dismissed as withdrawn with liberty to the petitioner to apply in case of fresh cause of action arises.

It is apparent from the plain reading of the order that the petitioner had withdrawn the petition in view of the statement made by the learned counsel for the UGC (respondent no.2) as well as the Ministry of Human Resource Development (respondent no.1) that an appropriate action in terms of the directions contained in the communication dated 03.08.2016 had already been taken and the remaining action would be taken in accordance with law.

The action pertains to conduct of an inquiry which is as a result of certain complaints made by the petitioner. The limited scope of the present application moved by the petitioner is to have an indicative time frame within which the inquiry will be concluded and consequent action, if any, will be taken.

The learned counsel for the respondents seeks time to obtain the necessary instructions as to time frame within which the inquiry report would be submitted.
