% 31.05.2017 The petitioners, who are majors, have married against the wishes of their respective family members on 12.05.2017 in a temple. Since it was an inter caste marriage, respondent no.3, who is the father of petitioner no.2, has been threatening and harassing the petitioners. On the complaint made by the petitioners before the police, a verification was made and it was found that the petitioners are majors, who are capable of contracting marriage amongst themselves. However, it was found that the petitioners are not residing at the address which has been provided in the complaint before the police.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that out of fear of backlash/reprisal at the hands of the relatives of petitioner no.2 and also for the purposes of avoiding any conflict in the house of the brother-in-law of the petitioner No.1, whose address had earlier been given, the petitioners

were moving from one place to another. Now they are residing at the address which has been provided.

Taking into account the aforesaid facts, the SHO of the concerned police station is directed to afford all protection to the petitioners. The petitioners be provided with the telephone numbers of two officers posted in the concerned police station.

In case of any distress call, the officers concerned would take prompt action.
