% 24.11.2016 Marital discord between the husband (petitioner no.1) and wife (respondent no.2) had led to registration of FIR No. 132/2014 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC at Crime Against Women Cell, Nanakpura against the petitioner no.1 and his relatives, i.e., petitioner nos. 2 to 8. Petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 have settled their disputes amicably, inasmuch as, their marriage has already been dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent on 22nd March, 2016. Respondent no.2 is present in Court and admits having compromised the matter with the petitioners of her own free will and without any undue pressure or coercion. She also admits having received the entire settled amount. She has no

objection in case the FIR is quashed.

Since petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 have decided to part their ways and have, in fact, obtained a decree of divorce, in my view, no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping them entangled in the present criminal proceedings. Accordingly, in the interest of justice, FIR No. 132/2014 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC registered at Crime Against Women Cell, Nanakpura and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

Writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. Miscellaneous applications are disposed of as infructuous.
