% 09.11.2016 WP(Crl.) No.3027/2016 has been filed by the mother of Ruchika. WP(Crl.) No. 3181/2016 has been filed by Ruchika and Abhimanyu, her husband.

Ruchika and her husband seek an appropriate writ or direction to the respondent nos. 1 to 4 to protect and secure their life and liberty. The mother of Ruchika in her writ petition has prayed for a writ of habeas corpus directing respondent nos. 1 to 3 to produce Ruchika, who has been illegally confined by respondent nos. 4 to 6. Abhimanyu and Ruchika, her parents Smt. Poonam Singh and and Shri Ajit Singh are present in Court.

Ruchika submits that she has not been confined illegally by any one. She is a major. She has voluntarily married Abhimanyu. She does not wish to reside with her parents.

The matter was then taken up in the Chamber in the presence of Mr. Rahul Mehra, Standing Counsel (Criminal). Ruchika, her husband and her parents were called in the Chamber and we interacted with Ruchika, Abhimanyu and her parents. The parents have submitted that although Ruchika has married against their wishes and in case she does not want to join her parents and does not want to keep any relationship with them, they would not press the petition. Parents of Ruchika further submitted that they would have no objection to the relationship between Ruchika and Abhimanyu.

In view of the statement made by the parents of Ruchika, both the petitions are disposed of.

Ruchika and Abhimanyu as also the parents undertake to the Court that they would maintain pace and neither of the parties would threaten each other or cause any disharmony.

Both petitions are disposed of.
