The application stands disposed off.

W.P.(C) 9694/2016 & CM No. 38819/2016 Mr. Ravi Prakash, the learned Standing Counsel for the Central Government/respondent No.1, who appears on receipt of advance copy of the writ petition submits that the petitioner's apprehension that he will be relieved from his present assignment is unfounded since presently there is no such proposal in view of the communication received from the DOPT which itself was based on an order dated 24.06.2016 passed by a Division Bench of this Court in W.P.(C) No. 5733/2016.

In the circumstances, should respondent No.1 propose to relieve the petitioner from his present post, it shall accord him a period of a fortnight to pursue such remedies as may be available to him in law. Apropos the rejection of the petitioner's resignation letter by the High Court of Punjab & Haryana no relief is pressed, leaving it open to the petitioner to pursue his remedies in this regard before the appropriate forum. The writ petition and the pending application are disposed off in the above terms.
