Petitioner, claiming to be a public-spirited person, has filed this writ petition with prayer to direct constitution of an independent authority or a committee headed by a judicial officer after excluding all bureaucrats or other officers to consider the question of providing various service benefits to police personnel working in the Police Department like Sub-Inspectors and Constables.

In sum and substance the writ petition filed is for grant of some W.P.(C) 9733/2018

benefits to the police personnel working in the Police Department. In a public interest litigation a direction for grant of various service benefits like dress allowance, providing of mobile phones, payment of mobile phone bills etc. cannot be granted. It is for the employees concerned to take up this issue, if they have an issue with regard to the conditions of the service, with competent authority of the concerned Department or the Government who would be in a better position to deal with it. At the instance of the petitioner, we are not inclined to interfere in the matter. 3.
