% 04.01.2017 Learned counsel appearing for the respondents submits that the Passport Office at Jalandhar has issued letter dated 26.12.2016, whereby, they have agreed to consider the request of the petitioner for correction of place of birth in the passport subject to the petitioner withdrawing the present petition. Copy of the letter dated 26.12.2016 has been produced. The same is taken on record. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is agreeable to the course suggested by the respondents provided the respondents dispose of the application and issue the passport in a time bound manner.

He prays for leave to withdraw the petition with liberty to approach this Court, seeking revival of the petition, in case, the respondents do not issue the passport with the requisite correction within the stipulated period.

In view of the submission of the respondents that application of the petitioner shall be considered for correction of place of birth, the writ petition is dismissed as withdrawn.

The respondents are directed to expedite the application of the petitioner and issue the passport to the petitioner with the necessary corrections within a period of three weeks in accordance with Rules. Needless to state that the petitioner would be at liberty to approach this Court, seeking revival of the petition, in case the respondents do not issue the passport with the corrected place of birth within three weeks.
