1. The first prayer in the present writ petition is for a mandamus to be issued to the Respondents "to conduct cadre review of General Duty Group 'B' Officers Cadre in Border Security Force".
2. The Court has been shown an order dated 2nd February, 2018 issued by the Directorate General BSF in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India whereby a Cadre Review Committee has been constituted to prepare a proposal "for cadre review of Group 'B' and 'C' of GD Officers Cadre in BSF".
3. Mr. Chhibber, learned counsel appearing for the Petitioners, submits that some time bound directions should be issued to the said Committee to W.P.(C) 10835/2016
complete the cadre review exercise since the experience of the past is that it is usually takes a long time.
4. Learned counsel for the Respondent, on instructions, states that, on the previous occasions, the exercise took no less than six months to complete the process but this time they require more time.
5. The Court issues a direction to the Committee constituted by the order dated 2nd February, 2018 to endeavour to complete the cadre review exercise entrusted to it within a period of six months from today. If there is any inordinate delay in the Committee concluding the cadre review exercise, it will be open to the Petitioners to approach the Court again for relief.
