The petitioner being a victim of acid attack has filed the present petition, inter alia, claiming monetary compensation as well as medical treatment/reimbursement of medical expenses.
In addition, the petitioner also seeks to be rehabilitated in a government employment. Insofar as the payment of compensation is concerned, the Government of NCT of Delhi by issuing a notification dated 23.12.2016, published a scheme called Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme, 2015.
In terms of the said scheme, the victims of acid attack who are dependent due to the extent of injury suffered are entitled to compensation to a maximum of a sum of ₹7 lacs. The extent of compensation is to be determined by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority or District Legal Services Authority. In the circumstances, respondent no.2 is directed to forthwith ascertain the amount of compensation payable to the petitioner in terms of the aforesaid scheme.
2.
The learned counsel for the GNCTD states that in addition the petitioner would also be entitled to reimbursement of medical expenses and free medical treatment and the nodal officer has been appointed for coordinating the same. The petitioner would be at liberty to approach the Nodal Officer for further relief. It is directed that the Nodal Officer shall conduct the same and ensure that the medical treatment is provided to the petitioner as per the prevalent policy of GNCTD. 3.
Insofar as the prayer for employment is concerned, the petitioner would also qualify for employment under the quota reserved for persons with disabilities and no further orders in that regard are required to be passed in this petition.

The petition is disposed of with the aforesaid observations. VIBHU BAKHRU, J AUGUST 17, 2017 MK
