The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that the respondents be directed to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the petitioners and also make arrangements of police picket inside the main gate of the Markaz or at or near the entrance of the Markaz. The petitioners further pray that the respondents be directed to maintain law and order in the area of Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi. 2.

The petitioner states that there have been instances of assault against them and they have also made representations to the police authorities. 3.

In so far as the petitioners' prayer for direction to maintain law and order is concerned, it is the respondent no.2's duty to protect life and property of the citizens and to maintain law and order in the area under its jurisdiction and no orders are required to be passed in this regard.

As far as the petitioners' apprehension regarding safety and security measures is concerned, this Court consider it apposite that the petitioner's representation be considered by respondent no.2. Needless to state that respondent no.2 shall take such further steps as considered necessary for maintaining law and order in the said area.

The petition is disposed of with the aforesaid observations. 6.
