1. A status report dated 5th March, 2018 has been filed by Mr. Rajendra Kumar, ACP DIU North East, Delhi regarding the son of the Petitioner having gone missing since 5th April 2017, in respect of which FIR No. 195/2017 was registered at Police Station Khajoori Khas under Section 365 IPC. It is stated that Inspector Mangesh Tyagi has taken over the investigation of the case on 3rd February 2018.

2. The steps taken thereafter to trace the missing boy have been set out in detail in the status report, a copy of which has been given to counsel for the Petitioner. It appears that a large number of persons have been already

questioned and efforts are on to trace the missing boy by means of hue and cry notices, publication of photographs in newspapers, visits to shelter homes and even to Tihar Jail as well as circulating the details on social media.

3. Mr. Rahul Mehra, Standing Counsel for the State assures the Court that the DIU, North East District will keep making efforts to trace the missing boy. He states that any leads that the Petitioner provides to ACP Rajendra Kumar will be followed up on immediately.

4. In that view of the matter, the Court directs that the ACP will keep the Petitioner informed about the progress of the investigation at least once every month. The Magistrate concerned will also be periodically kept informed by filing status reports.

5. No further directions are called for at this stage. The petition is disposed of.
