The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying as under:- "a) A necessary direction be given to the respondents to correct/modify the date of birth i.e. 30/06/1948 in place of 30/06/1930 and father's name of the petitioner to be read as Manohar Singh Vohra instead of Mandhar Singh Vohra in Passport No. A0814660 according to authentic documents i.e. Aadhar Card, Pan Card and Ration Card submitted by the petitioner and/or reissue the passport in the name of the petitioner."

The petitioner has also produced certain documents such as Aadhar

Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, LIC Policy and Ration Card to contend that his correct date of birth is 30.06.1948 and not 30.06.1930 and his father's name is Manohar Singh Vohra and not Mandhar Singh Vohra.

Concededly, all the documents, which are relied upon by the petitioner record the petitioner's date of birth based on the affidavits or statements made by the petitioner himself. It is also not disputed that the passport was issued to the petitioner on the basis of information provided by the petitioner. The learned counsel appearing for the respondent points out that there is no specific rule which permits the passport Authority to alter the date of birth after the passport has been issued. 5.

It is also noticed that there is no contemporaneous document or material produced on record, which would clearly establish the petitioner's correct date of birth. In this view, the relief as sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted.

The petitioner would however be at liberty to produce evidence such as extracts from the school admission register or any other contemporaneous material to establish his date of birth. If the petitioner is able to secure any such material, he is at liberty to approach the passport Authorities for amendment of his date of birth. The concerned passport Authority shall give due consideration to the same and take an informed decision. 7.
