JUDGMENT

This is a petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of time for making the award.

The Arbitral Tribunal was constituted on 14.03.2016. The time O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 14/2017
for making the award is to expire on 14.09.2017. 3.
Issue notice. Notice is accepted by the learned counsel appearing for the respondent.

Learned counsel for the parties inform that the oral evidence of both the parties is over and the matter is at the stage of final hearing and the claimant has partly made his submissions and the Arbitral Tribunal has fixed the matter for 15.08.2017 for hearing the arguments of the parties.

The Arbitral Tribunal, by its order dated 22.07.2017, has opined that the extension of time would be required till 31.12.2017 for concluding the hearing and making of the award. 6.
Learned counsel for the parties submit that there has been no delay on the part of the Tribunal in conduct of the proceedings. 7.
In view of the above, the time for making the award is extended up to 31.12.2017.

The petition is, accordingly, disposed of in the above terms. 9.
