The petitioner has filed the present petition inter alia praying for a direction to the Delhi Police to issue an arms licence to him. The application for the same is pending consideration before the licensing unit of Delhi Police since 03.04.2016. The petitioner also prays that directions be issued to Delhi Police to ensure safety of the petitioner and petitioner's family.

The petitioner claims to be a whistle blower and has also filed PILs against what he terms as the 'building material mafia'. 3.
The learned counsel appearing for the respondent states that the petitioner's request for an arms licence will be decided within a period of one week from today. He states that hearing in this regard is already fixed for 08.08.2017. In view of this statement, no further orders are required to be passed with respect to the petitioner's prayer for issuance of an arms licence.

Insofar as the second prayer that Delhi Police be directed to take necessary steps for safety of the petitioner and petitioner's family is concerned, it is directed that the police authorities shall consider the threat perception of the petitioner and take such steps as they deem necessary. No further orders are required to be passed in this petition. 5.
In view of the above, the petition and the pending application are disposed of.
