O R D E R

% 16.08.2017 An additional status report in pursuance to the directions issued by this Court by way of its order dated 9th August, 2017, has been handed over in the Court today. The same is taken on record. A perusal of the said status report reveals that as far back as on the 24th September, 2011, the petitioner caused to be filed an Enrolment Form with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

The said Enrolment Form dated 24th September, 2011, stated the Date of Birth of the petitioner's daughter, namely, Ms. Laxmi as 1st January, 1999. Thereafter, according to the UIDAI, on

the 26th October, 2016, Laxmi's demographic details were updated, resulting in a change in the Date of Birth of Laxmi to 12th October, 1998.

Consequently, it is an admitted position that Laxmi has attained majority as per the details verified by the UIDAI. We have interacted with the parents and parents-in-law of Laxmi. The latter have expressed their willingness and happiness in welcoming Laxmi as their daughter-in-law and that she could reside with them.

In view of the above position, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner, on instructions from the latter, seeks to withdraw this petition. The petition is dismissed as withdrawn and disposed off and Laxmi is directed to be released from the Sanskar Ashram, forthwith.

Before parting with this matter, it is considered just, necessary and appropriate to direct the SHO, P.S. Karawal Nagar, Delhi to provide adequate security to Laxmi, as well as, furnish her with his telephone number and that of a lady police officer, so as to enable Laxmi to contact them in the event of any threat or apprehension to her safety and security.

The petitioner, Mr. Puttu Singh, also undertakes before this Court not to remove Laxmi from the jurisdiction of this Court against her wishes. The undertaking is hereby accepted. Laxmi is at liberty to visit the house of her in-laws and reside with them, if she so desires.

A copy of this order be given dasti under the signature of the

Court Master to the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State in order to enable him to ensure compliance with the above directions. SIDDHARTH MRIDUL, J.
