% 03.10.2018 Issue notice. Mr. Lao accepts notice on behalf of the State. He has tendered in court a status report, which is taken on record. The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition to seek a writ of habeas corpus for production of his wife Shaily from the custody of respondent no.3 and her relatives. The case of the petitioner is that he got married to Shaily on 14.05.2018. He claims that the said marriage was not to the liking of the parents of his wife and, accordingly, she has been restrained by her parents after taking her away from the matrimonial home on the pretext of getting formal marriage conducted.

Shaily has been produced in court. We have interacted with her in chamber alone as well as in the presence of the petitioner. Shaily states that she needs some time to decide her future course of action and that she is staying with her parents out of her own free will and accord. At present, she does not wish to join the company of the petitioner. We have advised the petitioner and respondent no.3 that if they so desire, they can seek counselling or mediation at the Delhi High Court Mediation & Conciliation Centre, so as to resolve the differences.
