1. The Petitioner has approached this Court seeking a writ of habeas corpus for the production of his daughter Pooja, aged 22 years, who according to him went missing on 7th June, 2018.
2. On receipt of an advance copy of the petition, the Station House Officer ('SHO') of Police Station Nangloi has filed a status report dated 8th October, 2018. The missing girl, Pooja, has also been produced in the Court.
3. The status report inter alia records that on 9th August, 2018 Pooja was produced before the learned Metropolitan Magistrate, who recorded her statement under Section 164 Cr PC in which she was categorical that she had left her house of her own free will and started to work at a cloth shop in
Rani Bagh, Delhi. She has been provided residence by the owner of the shop and she is clear that she does not want to return to her parents.
4. Pooja has been asked in the Court again whether she would like to meet her parents at the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre, but she has declined to do so.
5. In the circumstances, the Court is not inclined to accede to the prayer made in this petition.
6. The petition is dismissed.
