The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying as under:- "a) Pass a writ in the nature of Mandamus or other writ, order or direction, thereby directing the respondent no. 2 to process the subject application for refund dated 11.04.2016 and refund Rs. 15,00,000/- with interest @ 12% w.e.f. the date of the application."

It is the petitioner's case that the petitioner had purchased an e-stamp papers of the value of `15 lakhs (certificate no.IN-DL41156694838388N)
on 10.08.2015.
At the material time, it was proposed that the petitioner would enter into a compromise with another party with regard to a dispute relating to an immovable property. It is stated that the disputes between the petitioner and the third party were ultimately settled with the petitioner being refunded the earnest money and, therefore, there was no use for the estamp papers purchased by the petitioner. 4.
It is stated that the petitioner had made an application dated 11.04.2016 seeking refund of the e-stamp duty. It is the petitioner's grievance that its application has not been processed and he has not received any response pursuant thereto.

The learned counsel appearing for the respondents states on instructions that payment voucher has been prepared. However, the same would require to be reconfirmed.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to either refund the e-stamp duty within a period of two weeks from today or communicate the reasons for refusing to do so. 7.
