W.P.(C) 11805/2018 Issue notice. Learned counsel for the respondent accepts notice. The short issue involved in the present writ petition is with regard to the measurement of the petitioner's height. The minimum height required for the post of Constable (Executive) in the Delhi Police is 170 cms. On two occasions when the height of the petitioner was measured by the respondents, it was found to be short by 1.2 cms. The submission of the petitioner is that his height has been found to be 171 cms. at the time of his selection as a Lab Operator/ Attendant in Ordnance Factory, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. Moreover, the
petitioner states that he has got his height measured from a Civil Surgeon at Rewari, Haryana, who has also found him to be of 170.5 cms. The further submission of the petitioner is that his height was measured, on both occasions, in the afternoon when it is medically established, the height is reduced.
Looking to the short controversy, we dispose of this writ petition by directing that the height of the petitioner be got measured at the Army, Referral & Research Hospital, Dhaula Kuan. The medical superintendent of the said hospital is requested to have the height of the petitioner measured and to send his report in a sealed cover to the petitioner, as well as to the respondent.
In case, the height of the petitioner is found to be 170 cms. or above, the respondents shall proceed to process the case of the petitioner further. The petitioner shall appear before the Medical Superintendent, Army, Referral & Research Hospital, Dhaula Kuan for conduct of the test on 12.11.2018 at 11.00 A.M.
The registry shall communicate this order directly to the Medical Superintendent, Army, Referral & Research Hospital, Dhaula Kuan for compliance.
