The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, seeking directions to respondent no.1/State Bank of India to change the operation of the Public Provident Fund Account (PPF Account No.31296340324), which is in the name of the petitioner's minor daughter (Ms Vanya Bajaj). The said account is operated under the guardianship of respondent no.2, who is the ex-wife of the petitioner and the mother of Ms Vanya Bajaj. The petitioner and respondent no.2 are now divorced and it is stated that Ms Vanya Bajaj is now under the care of the petitioner. The petitioner, therefore, desires that respondent no.1 modify the said account to reflect the same as under his guardianship instead of the guardianship of respondent no.2.

The Public Provident Fund is a blocked account and no withdrawals are permissible for a period of fifteen years save in exceptional circumstances.

The said account was opened in the year 2010 and,

therefore, would mature in the year 2025. By that time, Ms Vanya Bajaj will be a major and would be entitled to operate the said account on her own. In this view, no orders are required to be passed in this petition except to direct that no withdrawal from the subject account (PPFAccount No.31296340324) would be made without the permission of the Court. It is so directed.
