versus STATE NCT OF DELHI & ORS ..... Respondents Through Mr.Jamal Akhtar, Adv. for Mr.Rahul Mehra, Standing counsel.

CORAM:
HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE ASHUTOSH KUMAR
O R D E R
% 30.09.2015 Petitioner no.1 is over 18 years of age whereas the petitioner no.2 is 22 years old. Both the petitioners are cousins and of their over volition have married each other in accordance with Muslim rites and ceremonies before a Qazi.
The aforesaid marriage, even though inter-religious, has not been accepted by the parents and relatives of petitioner no.1. Immediately after the marriage, the petitioners were being threatened by the parents of petitioner no.1.
Constrained by such legal acts of respondents, the petitioners preferred the instant writ petition seeking protection from police.
Notice was issued to the State whereupon Mr.Mehra, standing counsel, accepted notice and has submitted the status report. The petitioners are competent to marry and as they have attained the
age of majority. The marriage has not been taken place under any coercion or threat.
Mr.Jamal Akhtar, proxy to Mr.Mehra, standing counsel, submits that pursuant to the direction passed by this Court, protection was afforded to the petitioners whose place of residence was obtained. In fact the protection is being accorded even today.
The telephone numbers of the petitioners were given to the SHO of the concerned police station. The petitioners were also given the telephone numbers of police officials with the assurance that any SOS call would be taken up by the police officials with urgent despatch. In that view of the matter, there is no reason to keep this petition pending.
The petition is disposed of accordingly.
