Ms. Jyoti Singh, learned Senior Counsel for the Armed Forces Tribunal submits, on instructions, that recruitment, pursuant to the vacancy circular dated 31 51 May, 2017, has been placed on hold. She also draws my attention to the justification cited, in the counter affidavit, for not extending the contract of the petitioner. 2.
In any case, it is a trite position, in law, that no contract employee has a vested right of extension of his contract. 3.
In the circumstances, without expressing any opinion on the merits, I am of the view that the interest of justice would be subserved if this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to By:AMULYA W.P.(C) 8310/2017
consider the case of the petitioner as well, in case any further recruitment of staff car driver on contract basis, is effected, pursuant to the vacancy circulars dated 31st May, 2017 and 12th October, 2017 or otherwise. In case the respondent does not choose to appoint the petitioner, the petitioner shall be informed of the reasons thereof in writing.

With the above directions, this writ petition Is disposed of without any order as to costs.
