This petition, in exercise of powers under Article 227 of the Constitution of India, seeks expeditious disposal of an appeal preferred by the respondents/tenants before the Rent Control Tribunal (West), Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi against the order of eviction in favour of the petitioner under Section 14(1)(b) of the Delhi Rent Control Act, 1958. 4.

The appeal is pending since 2007 and is informed to be listed next on 2nd November, 2017.

The appeal has indeed remained pending for an unusually long time. However, a perusal of the last order dated 6th September, 2017 shows that it was on the submission of the counsel for the petitioner/respondent in appeal, to the effect that the disposal of the appeal would take a long time, that the hearing was so adjourned.

The counsel for the petitioner/respondent assures that he will remain present on first call on the next date of hearing before the Rent Control Tribunal and will not take any passover/adjournment. 7.

The Rent Control Tribunal (West), Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi is requested to hear the appeal on 2nd November, 2017, when it is listed next or soon thereafter and to ensure disposal thereof before the end of the year 2017.
